Role of the Funeral Director
A funeral director is responsible for coordinating and overseeing funeral services. They transport and handle all the logistics with the body. They gather all pertinent information for the Death Certificate, including getting the Death Certificate. They oversee the arrangements with the family, coordinate the service with the church or celebrant, and contact the cemetery for the timing of burial, inurnment, or entombment.
Role of The Clergy
Once the funeral director determines what sort of ceremony the family wants to have, they contact the appropriate church and clergy. If there is a certain denomination the family wishes to honor the deceased with, the FD will try their best to find a member of the clergy from that denomination that will provide the required rituals. Usually, funeral homes have several different clergy they can call upon to deliver a message to the grieving.
Role of the Celebrant
A funeral celebrant can be a non-religious professional who conducts funeral ceremonies. They meet with families to create a story of the deceased's life. They will deliver the unique elements that honor a person's legacy by telling stories or anecdotes of the deceased. Some celebrants will include religious elements in the ceremony if the family requests it.
